Why Video Advertising Sells Better Than Static Photos?
Instead of guessing what works better on Facebook or TikTok, we checked hard data. At Syrenka Media Lab, from January to June 2024, we ran tests on 412 different ad creatives for our clients from Warsaw and the surrounding areas. The result is one: static photos lose to movement in almost every industry, from catering to car workshops.
Our live body tests
From February to July 2024, we conducted a series of A/B tests for 12 companies across different industries. We compared exactly the same budgets – 1,500 PLN per ad set. The results were repeatable: video generated an average of 3.4 times more interaction (likes, comments, shares) than a static graphic. In the case of a construction company from Piaseczno, an ad showing the process of plastering in 10 seconds brought 28 concrete phone calls from customers, while a photo of a finished wall didn't generate a single connection.
Analyzing data from Meta Ads Manager, we noticed that the CTR (click-through rate) for video formats averaged 2.15%, while for photos it hovered around 0.92%. This is not a coincidence; it's statistics. People in Poland read long descriptions under photos less and less often. They prefer to watch a short piece of content that explains to them in a few seconds why a given product is needed. No fluff – video simply conveys benefits faster.
Video allows you to reach twice as many people for the same money. It's math, not magic.

Why are static photos stopping working?
The problem with photos is that in 2024, everyone can take a pretty photo. The market is saturated with them. A user sees a photo and subconsciously identifies it as an 'ad' that should be skipped. Video, especially User Generated Content (UGC) style, i.e., looking like it was recorded by a normal person, tricks this defensive mechanism. The customer thinks they're watching a recommendation from a friend, not a paid promotion. At Syrenka Media Lab, we use this mechanism to build trust in your brand.
Additionally, a photo is silent. It doesn't convey emotions, environmental sound, or product dynamics. Imagine a drill ad. A photo will only show plastic and metal. A video will show how easily it goes into concrete, you'll hear the engine sound, and see the smile of a satisfied handyman. These are details that close sales. In April 2024, we helped a hair salon in North Praga increase the number of bookings by 87% just because instead of hair photos, we started showing the 'before and after' transformation process in motion.
TikTok and Reels are the new search engine
More and more people, especially aged 25-40, search for services directly on TikTok or Instagram instead of Google. They search for 'best coffee Warsaw' and want to see a video of the place, the vibe, the people, and how the coffee looks in the cup. Photos from 2018 on Google Maps don't move anyone anymore. If your company doesn't have current video content, for this group of customers you practically don't exist. We at Syrenka Media Lab keep our finger on the pulse and know which formats are currently 'devouring' the Polish market.
In June 2024, our campaign for an office furniture manufacturer reached a reach of 142,000 unique users without spending a penny on paid promotion. This happened because the video was perfectly matched to current music trends and showed a real problem – back pain with a cheap chair. Check our numbers: 1,200 shares in 48 hours. A photo of a chair would never have done that. We make noise that sells because we understand how modern algorithms work.
If your company doesn't have current video content, for the younger group of customers you practically don't exist.

How to start and not go bankrupt?
Many people ask us: 'How much does it have to cost?'. We answer: less than you think, provided you have a plan. The biggest cost is lack of action and burning budget on old methods that don't work. At Syrenka Media Lab, we start with a short strategy. We don't need a month for preparations. Often from the first meeting at Tamka to the publication of the first video, only 5-7 business days pass. We'll deliver quickly because time matters on the internet.
Start with simple things: show the backend of your company, tell about one product, or answer a customer's most common question. We'll handle editing, music selection, and ad optimization. Our cheapest video package for local businesses starts from amounts that pay for themselves after acquiring 2-3 new customers. In May 2024, our beauty industry client recorded a return on investment at 512% after implementing simple video guides on their profile.
